Release Date: 06/02/2014

(May 29, 2014) - Five EMHS members have earned recognition in exceptional performance in 2013 from Avatar Solutions, a national organization that measures and compares hospital safety and patient satisfaction based on patient, employee, and physician surveys. These awards show consistent dedication to providing high-quality patient experiences across the EMHS system.

EMHS president and CEO, M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, called the award a significant recognition of hard work in process redesign and performance improvement.  “I am so proud of what these EMHS hospitals have achieved. In particular, I think it is remarkable that the scoring is dependent on the perspective of not only the patient, – but also the employees and physicians.”

Acknowledging consistently high standards of patient care, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) was awarded the following honors by Avatar Solutions. The three awards, based on patient surveys, include Exemplary Service Overall - Best Performer, Exceeding Patient Expectations, and Cleanliness and are all significant accomplishments for BHMH.  BHMH was awarded the highest rating in the country for cleanliness, compared to hospitals its size.  “I am so proud of the high level of customer service we provide to our patients here at BHMH.  Every patient’s needs are important and unique, explains interim chief nursing officer and quality manager Kathy Lirakis, RN, MBA, CPHQ.  “The staff here constantly keep this in mind and not only strive to meet those needs, but to go above and beyond.”
