Blue Hill Memorial Hospital recently acquired and installed the ACUSON S2000™ ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare as part of its ongoing mission of providing outstanding and personalized care to its patients.
“This new system is state-of-the-art and will enhance our diagnostic capabilities,” says Richard Seger, M.D., radiology director. “The advanced technologies significantly enhance ultrasound image quality. This enhancement is timely for the patients in our growing obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery and oncology programs. The new ultrasound equipment will also support patients who come to our emergency department.”
Kathleen Ober, MD, the hospital’s obstetrician and gynecologist, is excited about what the new system will offer. “This system creates photo-realistic fetal ultrasound images. While this image quality is critical to helping us diagnose clinical issues, even mothers with a routine pregnancy will enjoy seeing the clear images of their developing babies.”
The significant investment in the new ultrasound system was made possible in part by the hospital’s donors. Last year, community members gave more than $400,000 to support Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and its practices. “While we continue to balance expenses and revenue as part of our ongoing commitment to financial viability, it is clear that we simply could not make major capital investments without the generosity of our seasonal and year-round residents,” says Greg Roraff, president and CEO of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. “State of the art equipment like our new ultrasound system can save lives, and we are extremely grateful to our donors for their support of our mission.”
Providers who wish to schedule patients for the new equipment should call the Blue Hill Scheduling Center at 973-9060 or (toll free) at 877-973-9060.
