Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Appoints Vice-President, Clinical and Support Services

John RonanBlue Hill Memorial Hospital has appointed John Ronan as Vice-President, Clinical and Support Services.  Ronan has been serving in this role on an interim basis since February of 2010.  His areas of responsibility include facilities, imaging, laboratory, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and the emergency department. He replaces Andrea McGill-O’Rourke, who left Blue Hill for a position at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vermont.

Prior to accepting the position in Blue Hill, Ronan worked for Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems (EMHS) for 13 years, most recently as the corporate director in the Information Systems Department, where he was responsible for all software contract negotiations for EMHS and vendor management.    Before joining EMHS, John worked at Central Maine Power in the IT Division and for Andersen Consulting in Boston.

“Technology pervades virtually everything we do today in healthcare,” explains hospital CEO Erik Steele, DO.  “John’s expertise in this area is very valuable to us, as is his contracting experience.  We must constantly look for ways to keep our costs down for our patients, without compromising the quality of care they receive.”

While Ronan looks forward to working in areas that are familiar to him, he also appreciates the opportunity to work more closely with clinical personnel.  “This position brings me much closer to patient care,” he says.  “At the end of the day, that’s what matters most.”

Ronan graduated from the University of Maine, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Husson University.
