Blue Hill Memorial Hospital held a Spring Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 1. Volunteers raked, weeded, planted, and completed other seasonal work on the hospital’s grounds.
“We have a maintenance team that mows our lawns and deals with snow and ice removal,” explains Larry Merritt, manager of facilities. “While this team can take care of the basics on our 7.6 acre campus, we are fortunate to have staff and community members who volunteer to help us out with seasonal work. As every homeowner knows, there’s a lot to do outdoors this time of year.”
Blue Hill Memorial Hospital invites community members to work in its gardens. Interested parties should call Kim Goff, director of development, at 374-3411 for more information. “Our region and our state are increasingly recognized for fine gardens,” says Goff, a master gardener trained through the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension Service. “We want our community hospital to contribute to this trend. We are a place of healing and would like our grounds to be beautiful and peaceful. This requires some extra hands.”
