Blue Hill Women’s Health Care Hosts “Birth” Day Party in the Town Park

On September 9, 2012 dozens gathered for a celebration hosted by Blue Hill Women’s Health Care (BHWHC), a department of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. Since the fall of 2009, 125 babies have been born to mothers cared for by Kathleen Ober, M.D. OB/GYN and Suzanne Norgang CNM (certified nurse midwife) in Blue Hill, Stonington, and Bucksport and delivered in Ellsworth. BHWHC invited families to attend the afternoon ice-cream social at the Blue Hill Town Park.

“It was such a sweet event. Babies were snuggled in slings and older siblings busily played on the playground equipment. It also presented a chance for mothers of babies and young children to spend time together, something that many mothers benefit from,” explained Kelley Columber, interim director of advancement for Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. “BHWHC was eager to arrange this party for growing families in our community.”

BHWHC plans to host a similar event again next year, as it provides a very special opportunity for the providers and staff to see the families again. “We hope to continue on with the tradition,” says Genice Billings, BHWHC practice manager, “it is such a treat to see the babies and families all together.”
