Blue Hill Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department (ED) provides outstanding, sensitive, and  convenient care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Convenience and Privacy

The majority of our patients can be seen and treated in less than 60 minutes of arriving at the hospital.  Seven private treatment rooms and a special waiting area ensure the privacy of our patients and their loved ones.  If a hospital stay is required, patients are easily transferred from our Emergency Department to a private or semi-private room. 

Supported by the Resources of our Partner Tertiary Care Hospital, EMMC

Our outstanding team is backed up by the resources of Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC), through  real-time, high definition videoconferencing equipment  that allows the specialists associated with a tertiary care hospital to evaluate and help treat our patients who may have experienced an automobile accident, stroke, heart attack, or other life-threatening problem.  Depending upon the unique needs of a patient, a trauma surgeon, pediatric intensivist, or neurosurgeon, for example, would conduct an assessment prior to transporting the patient by Lifeflight helicopter from Blue Hill to EMMC, just 12 minutes away.
