Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Welcomes New Director of Philanthropy

Blue Hill, ME (January 18, 2016) – Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) is pleased to welcome Ruth Calas as its new Director of Philanthropy.  Ruth has worked at The Jackson Laboratory since 1993. In her tenure at the Laboratory, Ruth worked in the Office of Sponsored Programs, Product Management, and the Office of Development. Ruth has a strong fundraising background with 15 years of philanthropy experience.  She has held a number of positions including Director of the Annual Fund, Planned Giving Officer, and Senior Major Gifts Officer and was instrumental in formalizing the Laboratory’s Charitable Gift Annuity and Planned Giving Programs.   

“I am honored to have this opportunity to work closely with the communities Blue Hill Memorial Hospital serves,” explains Calas. “I look forward to building meaningful and lasting relationships and to work for a hospital that is providing such vital and quality healthcare.”  Prior to moving to Maine in 1992, Ruth worked in the private sector as a mechanical engineer and project manager for Allied Signal Aerospace Company. She holds a bachelor of engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, as well as a Masters of Business Administration from Seton Hall University. Ruth lives in Bar Harbor with her husband and two daughters.
