Blue Hill, ME (April 25, 2016) –Avatar Solutions, a leading provider of Patient, HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems), Employee, and Physician Surveys, recently announced its 2015 award-winning hospital partners. Highlighting its consistent dedication to providing a high-quality patient experience, for the third year in row Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) has been awarded “HCAHPS Best Performer – Small Hospital – Cleanliness Award,” “Best Overall Performer Award,” and the “Exceeding Patient Expectations Award.” Avatar Solutions’ awards are meant to honor significant accomplishments in patient satisfaction and innovation in healthcare settings, and “Blue Hill Memorial Hospital providers and staff make it a priority to always put patients first in all that they do,” describes president and CEO John Ronan. “We continue to look for opportunities to enhance our patients’ experiences and review all feedback and comments extremely carefully.” Blue Hill Memorial Hospital is very proud of its “Best Performer for Cleanliness” honor. This specific award recognizes the organization for being the best in the “Cleanliness of the Environment” category out of all small hospitals participating. “Cleanliness in a hospital is extremely important for so many reasons,” explains chief nursing officer Kathy Lirakis, RN. “It certainly helps patients feel that they are being cared for in many ways, including their environment. Most importantly, it is critically important for infection prevention. I am very proud of our housekeeping staff and their dedication to the role they have in keeping our patients safe.” The housekeeping staff is a vital member of the health care team. This group of professionals takes their role at the hospital seriously and understands the importance of their performance with respect to overall quality. Vicki Walker has worked at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital for 11 ½ years. “We have had very good training and teaching tools that have helped us get to this point, and we always want to do even better,” explains Vicki. “Our team takes great pride in the work that we do for this small hospital; we clean each patient space as if we were preparing it for one of our own family members.” The “Best Overall Performer” was awarded to the top organizations with the highest overall scores resulting from inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Department, and Ambulatory patient feedback. This award recognizes high performing facilities that demonstrate consistency of experiences by patient type throughout the organization. The award for “Exceeding Expectations” goes to facilities whose overall score exceeds expectations for whichever patient types they are currently surveying. Based on three critical survey items measuring patient expectation about quality of care, reliability, and customization before the visit, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital once again earned this honor. “This year has proven to be a banner year for client efforts around patient experience,” said Lynn Ehrmantraut, Senior Vice President of Performance Improvement at Avatar Solutions. “The Avatar awards offer an opportunity to highlight each award-winning organization’s continuous drive to keep patients and staff at the center of their focus for improvement – in delivering on a fantastic patient experience and creating great places to work and practice medicine. We wish to sincerely congratulate all of our award winners.” About Avatar Solutions Avatar Solutions provides organizations with Smarter Items (i.e., questions) and Smarter Insights, to help each organization have a Smarter Impact.
