Ronan Named Chief Executive Officer for Blue Hill Memorial Hospital

Blue Hill, Maine – (July 25, 2014) – M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, president and CEO of EMHS announced today that John Ronan, FACHE, who has been serving as the hospital’s interim president and CEO, is now the permanent chief executive officer.
 
“Since being named interim CEO in April, John has capably guided Blue Hill Memorial Hospital forward, focusing on positioning the organization for the future and strengthening ties to the community,” says Hood. “I am pleased with the job he is doing and pleased that he wanted to stay on in the more permanent role.”
 
Ronan who has been with EMHS for 17 years, the last four at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, says when he started working on projects in Blue Hill for EMHS in 2010 he immediately fell in love with the community and the hospital. “I remain excited about the possibilities before us, and I’m grateful for the trust Michelle and the board has placed in me. Blue Hill is a unique community and in many ways the hospital serves as its nucleus - a responsibility and an honor that I take very seriously. I am fortunate to have a highly skilled and dedicated staff in place and together we will build on our strong foundation to ensure Blue Hill Memorial Hospital remains a trusted place to receive care and great place to work.”
 
Frank Wanning, chairman of the Blue Hill Board says Ronan is the right choice at the right time. “Under John’s leadership we’ve experienced a renewed commitment to quality and community. I am confident he- will capably lead this organization into the future well-prepared to meet both the challenges and opportunities of health reform.”
 
Ronan, who has two masters’ degrees, one in business administration and one in science and human relations, is married and has two children.
