Kathy Lirakis, RN, MSB, MBA, CPHQ assumes role as Interim Chief Nursing Officer

On Monday March 3,  2014,  Kathy Lirakis, RN, MSB, MBA, CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) will be assuming the role of Interim Chief Nursing Officer.  Kathy has been a registered nurse for over 30 years with experience in med surg, cardiac intensive care, all levels of oncology including bone marrow transplant, infusion, home health, hospice, and care management.  Kathy has been with EMHS for 19 years.  Throughout her career Kathy has been an agent for change that results in quality care and service excellence, healthier communities, and efficient use of sparse healthcare resources.   As Director, she was responsible for leading Hancock County Homecare and Hospice through reorganization, resulting in more effective and efficient delivery of care. She is the Past President of the HomeCare and Hospice Alliance of Maine where she actively sought legislative changes here in Maine and in Washington D.C. to benefit both patient care and the industry as a whole.

Kathy received her BSN from Emory University.  She has a MSB with a healthcare focus and an MBA from Husson University, and in addition, holds a national certification in Healthcare Quality. Kathy has raised her family here and her youngest daughter was born at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.  She is active in our community and believes strongly in nursing, this community and our hospital.
