Blue Hill Memorial Hospital to Work with Bucksport Regional Health Center

Release Date: 12/18/2013

Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) and Bucksport Regional Health Center (BRHC) are working together to expand healthcare services in Bucksport.  The administrations of both organizations have been in discussions for several months and are anxious to further develop this collaborative opportunity.

Over the next 90 days, BHMH will be working with BRHC to integrate specialty services that include cardiology, gynecology, midwifery, and general surgery. “We believe that more collaboration is the best approach, and this will bring the strengths of both organizations together to deliver the best possible care to patients,” states Elizabeth Schidzick-Brunelle, vice president of physician practices. “We want to tailor the delivery of care to the Bucksport community and ensure access to the right care, at the right time, and in the right place.”

“While our long term goal is to expand our presence in Bucksport, we will soon begin to assist our primary care patients at Bucksport Family Medicine to transition to BRHC or other clinics that they may choose,” states Greg Roraff, president and CEO of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.    “Working with BRHC will allow for greater community focus and expanded local healthcare choices.  We are excited to be able to offer services not previously available in Bucksport,” Roraff says.

Primary care services will continue to be offered for patients of Bucksport Family Medicine at its 58 Main Street location (call 469-6880), during this transition.  Additionally, the rehabilitation services now available at 58 Main Street will continue to be offered at that location. They may still be reached at 469-3107.

Carol Carew, executive director of Bucksport Regional Health Center, says teaming up with Blue Hill Memorial Hospital has been discussed often but only recently has there been significant momentum. “Providing access to specialty care will better serve our patients and the greater Bucksport community by limiting the need for travel, and being able to schedule timely appointments.”

As a member of EMHS, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital looks forward to collaborating with Bucksport Regional Health Center, a federally qualified health center dedicated to providing quality, affordable healthcare for all ages in greater Bucksport.
