Blue Hill Memorial Hospital to Hold 6th Annual 5K Fun Run Race

Release Date: 07/26/2013

Blue Hill, ME - (July 26, 2013) - Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) will hold its sixth annual 5K road race and one-mile family walk on Saturday, August 3.  We anticipate close to 200 year-round community members, summer residents, and visitors to register for this year’s race.

Participants of all ages can walk or run.  The suggested registration fee for the 5K run is $15 per person or $25 for a family team.  “Proceeds from this event support Blue Hill Memorial Hospital’s wellness activities and community outreach programming throughout the area we serve,” says Kelley Columber, community relations manager for BHMH.

Annie Grindal and Joy Bragdon, both fitness instructors and managers at the Blue Hill branch of the Downeast YMCA have stepped in to help with race director responsibilities, recruitment, and a “Couch to 5K” training program. "Our participants have been working extremely hard for three days a week for the last nine weeks on their Couch to 5K plan.  For some, this is their first 5K experience and we are extremely proud of them,” explains Annie Grindal. “We look forward to watching them cross the finish line.” Both Grindal and Bragdon wish for all runners to finish a safe and successful race.

BHMH is thrilled to work with the Blue Hill branch of the Downeast YMCA.  “It has been a pleasure to work with Annie and Joy on this event.  They continue to inspire so many in our community to get fit, as they are both incredibly passionate about wellness and physical fitness,” describes Columber.

Registration begins at 7 am, the 1 mile walk begins at 8 am, and the 5K at 8:30.  For more information please contact BHMH Community Relations at 374-3418 or click here for a registration form.
