Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Receives Awards for High Quality Care

Release Date: 04/26/2013

Acknowledging consistently high standards of patient care, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) is being awarded the following honors by Avatar International, an industry leader in healthcare quality services.  The two awards, one for Exemplary Service and a second for Exceeding Patient Expectations, are significant accomplishments for BHMH.  “Our team of clinical staff puts patient care at the forefront of all we do,” explains Deb Ashmore, RN.  Ashmore supervises the hospital’s 25-bed inpatient floor as well as its special care unit.  “Our belief is that safe, quality care is everyone’s responsibility.  We take great pride in being recognized for these achievements.”

Avatar Solutions’ awards are meant to honor significant accomplishments in patient satisfaction and innovation in healthcare settings.  “Avatar award winners are leading their peers in their dedication to service excellence and performance in healthcare,” said Jeff Brady, CEO and President of Avatar Solutions. “The awards signify these organizations used information gathered from their patients to improve the quality of care available at their organization.”

The Exemplary Service Overall Best Performer Award is presented to the top facilities in Avatar’s national database with the highest overall, combined score for patient experiences in inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and ambulatory surgery settings.  The Exceeding Patient Expectations award is based on three critical survey items gauging patient expectations about quality of care, reliability, and customization before the visit.

Sandy Smallidge, RN, nurse manager of the Emergency Department and the Infusion-Oncology clinic is proud of the organization. “Extraordinary achievements never occur without the active involvement and support of a team.  The Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Emergency Department team is well-deserving of this recognition, as they work collaboratively with excellent communication to ensure that their patients receive exceptional care.”
